About Yoga Sadhana

Connect with your community, connect with yourself.
A yoga practice that allows you to tune into your mind and body.

Welcome to Yoga Sadhana. The word Sadhana means “practice” in Sanskrit. Traditional yoga follows a system of eight stages known as the 8 Limbs. At Yoga Sadhana, we emphasize self-practice based on ancient teachings and texts, focusing particularly on asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork), and meditation from the 8 Limbs.

Yoga is not confined to studios or classes; it’s about integrating yoga into your daily life as a lifelong habit to deepen self-awareness. Through the practice of asanas, pranayama, and meditation, you can restore harmony to your body and mind, clear your thoughts, and start each day with a fresh perspective.

For those feeling uncertain, stressed, or weighed down by life’s challenges, yoga offers a way to release tension in the body, connect with the mind and breath, and experience the clarity and lightness that comes with a balanced practice. Our classes are designed to help you achieve this sense of renewal.

Profile

Akiko – Yoga and Pranayama Teacher & Practitioner

  • City registered Teacher at “Kanazawa Ward ” and “Yokosuka Manabikan”
  • Community Engagement x Pro Bono

With over 20 years of experience in global sales and marketing roles, I now run yoga classes for beginners at community centers in Yokohama’s Kanazawa Ward.

During challenging days at work, I found peace and clarity through morning yoga practice. It became a time to quiet the mind and foster a positive, focused mindset for the day ahead. Inspired by my personal transformation after years of stressful desk work, I began teaching yoga and pranayama to help others experience similar changes.

I am practicing Ashtanga yoga as my personal sadhana and incorporates elements of Hatha yoga, Iyengar yoga, and Yin yoga into my classes. My teaching emphasizes alignment and uses props to support all levels of practitioners.
